AHOY THERE ME HEARTIES

SAVE THE DATE Talk Like a Pirate Day is back!!

Talk Like a Pirate Day™nationally recognised as the major fundraiser for Childhood Cancer Support, is an opportunity to polish ye hook and say “AHOY there, me hearties” to all ye mateys, school crew and work mates.

Talking or dressing up like a Pirate for a whole day might seem a little silly, right?

In reality, your silliness has a serious side to it.

In Australia, a child is diagnosed with cancer every 14 hours. Many of these families live in regional areas, and must travel to a major city for treatment. Often, this treatment takes place over months, or even years. It is an experience that no family should have to go through.

Unfortunately for the Kiely family, they did.

During one of the hardest times we have had to face as a family, Childhood Cancer Support not only provided us with free accommodation for our entire stay in Brisbane, but also valuable support. What they have created is a community unlike any other for all oncology families, providing practical support like transport for shopping, hospital or airport runs, and also offering emotional support through weekly Coffee, Cake & Chat, recreational programs and activities for the kids, gym facilities and more. CCS became our home away from home.

Getting on board to Talk Like a Pirate throughout September will help Childhood Cancer Support to provide a home away from home for more families like the Kiely family.

So join the crew, grab ye mates and let's start raising some loot for the families who need it most!

Childhood Cancer Support Inc.

As one of Australia’s leading childhood cancer support organisations, Childhood Cancer Support is a not-for-profit family focused charitable organisation offering regional families a place to call home while their child undergoes life-saving cancer treatment. For more than 40 years, Childhood Cancer Support has been dedicated to providing free accommodation and support to regional families who have children living with cancer and are required to travel to Brisbane for ongoing treatment. Based in Brisbane, Childhood Cancer Support takes care of everything from accommodation, transport, emotional support, and at times, financial support.

When your child is diagnosed with cancer, everything in life takes a backseat. Childhood Cancer Support is the helping hand at a time when families need it the most.

First of all, we say thank you for choosing to fundraise for Childhood Cancer Support, and helping families who need it most. On behalf of all Childhood Cancer Support families, the Central Committee of Management, and Staff, we say thank you, as without your help we simply could not continue to do what we do.
